The AMI Montessori Archives
Roromedia joined forces with the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) and their Chief Information Officer (CIO) to develop a cutting-edge digital library using Archipelago, a Drupal distribution specifically designed for museums and the academic sector. This portfolio entry highlights our successful collaboration with Metro, the Metropolitan New York Library Council, and the remarkable achievements in creating a comprehensive library that catalogs the vast assets of Maria Montessori.
Partnership with AMI and the Metropolitan New York Library Council (Metro)
Our collaboration with Metro, consisting of over 200 esteemed members including prominent institutions like Columbia University, New York University, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, provided invaluable expertise and insights. Together with AMI's CIO, we embarked on a mission to develop a digital library that would revolutionize access to knowledge and preserve the legacy of Maria Montessori.
Archipelago and Drupal
Utilizing the Archipelago Drupal distribution, we supported AMI in building a robust and scalable digital library platform tailored to the specific needs of AMI. Archipelago's flexible architecture allowed for seamless integration with various assets, including texts, images, and multimedia related to Maria Montessori's work. Leveraging the power of Drupal, we created a user-friendly interface that facilitated efficient search, categorization, and organization of the extensive library collection.
Docker-Based Deployment on AWS
To ensure optimal performance and scalability, we implemented a docker-based infrastructure hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This deployment approach allowed for simplified management, scalability, and seamless integration with AMI's existing technology ecosystem. The docker-based setup ensured high availability and rapid deployment, enabling users to access the digital library effortlessly.
Cataloging Maria Montessori's Assets
The digital library serves as a comprehensive repository of Maria Montessori's assets, providing a wealth of knowledge and resources for researchers, educators, and Montessori enthusiasts worldwide. AMI is meticulously cataloging texts, images, and multimedia elements, creating a navigable and user-friendly interface that enables users to explore and discover the breadth of Maria Montessori's work.
Results and Impact
The collaboration between AMI, Metro, and our agency has culminated in the development of a powerful digital library that enables widespread access to Maria Montessori's assets. Researchers, educators, and enthusiasts can now delve into a wealth of knowledge, benefiting from the seamless search capabilities and user-friendly interface. The digital library has transformed the way information is accessed, empowering individuals and institutions to further explore and engage with the teachings and legacy of Maria Montessori.
Our partnership with Metro and AMI in developing the Archipelago-based digital library has revolutionized access to knowledge and strengthened the legacy of Maria Montessori. By leveraging Drupal's versatility, implementing a docker-based deployment on AWS, and cataloging an extensive collection, we have created a transformative platform that transcends traditional boundaries of learning. The digital library stands as a testament to our commitment to innovation and our dedication to supporting the preservation and dissemination of valuable educational resources.
